The Kendall School is a private school located in Belmont, MA. It serves children from the age of 2.9 through kindergarten.
The school’s mission statement
The Kendall School's (1931) mission is to provide a nurturing, creative, and enriching experience for pre-school-age children that encourages positive self-esteem and the eagerness to learn. It also provides an opportunity for children to form strong and supportive relationships with children and adults outside of the home. The first school experience is essential to helping children develop independence so that they are well equipped to face the challenges of primary school.
Academics
The school provides an atmosphere that supports the growth of the whole child, including socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. As part of its curriculum, it offers a variety of creative activities, including art, music, dance, and drama, as well as science, free play, music, cooking, foreign languages, class time, and special projects.
The Kendall School also offers a Transitional Kindergarten program, designed to accommodate children with fall birthdays who miss the traditional cut-off date of September 1st for elementary kindergarten. It is also an enriching alternative for parents who may want their child to experience an extra year of preschool.
Afternoon Activities
The school offers special afternoon activities, including science and nature classes, drama classes, French, Spanish, or English as a second language classes, creative dance instruction, and cooking and nutrition days.
