Italian Home for Children is a special education school located in Jamaica Plain, MA. The school serves children between the ages of 4 and 13 with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties and other mental health issues. The school offers both a residential and a day program.


School’s Mission Statement
To achieve our vision, we provide progressive and therapeutic programs to help children, adults, and families with emotional, behavioral, and educational needs thrive in their communities.


Academics
The school’s education center serves children with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties, learning disabilities, language disorders, mental illness, high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delays. It helps children who are at risk of failure in the public or private school system.
The school’s special education program consists of six classrooms with eight to ten students. Each classroom is run by a certified special education teacher, assistant teacher, and child care worker.

In addition, the school offers a therapeutic after-school program and a therapeutic summer camp/school vacation week program.

The school is approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
