Pathways Academy is a private special education school located in Belmont, MA. The school school serves the psychological, social and academic needs of children and adolescents ages 6 through 22 with autism spectrum and related disorders. The school is operated by the Center for Neurodevelopmental Services at McLean Hospital and is fully approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Pathways Academy provides a safe and comfortable learning environment for students with autism spectrum and related disorders. Pathways Academy focuses on the social pragmatic and academic advancement of each student so that they may successfully face challenges in all aspects of their life.
Academics
The curriculum at the school is tailored to meet the need of each individual student. Each child is provided with an individualized education program that fosters his/her own social and academic growth. Students take core academic classes in English, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition to the core academic classes, students participate in a range of other classes including pragmatics, culinary arts, life skills, community service, physical activity, typing, and health.
The curriculum of the Academy is based on the Common Core State Standards and the Curriculum Frameworks as set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and students do participate in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS)
Other Services
The school provides a number of interventions such as occupational therapy, sensory integration, speech and language therapy, pragmatic language and thinking classes, problem-solving strategies, crisis intervention, and academic support.

Social skills services - Developing social skills is a core feature of the program with tailored classes focusing on each students’ diagnosis.

Transition services - At age 14, students participate in transition planning classes, exploring individual needs including banking skills, job skills, independent living skills, travel skill, and more.

Family services - The school’s staff work closely together with parents to provide a single message of direction and support.
